The Museum of Contemporary Art is a patrimony of Brazilian folks and a pride for the University of São Paulo. It is praised and esteemed by foreign visitants; it is revered and loved by its usual visitors. As all fine museums, MAC USP needs to have its rich collection united and available in electronic media and in Internet. So, more people will be able to get the fruit of the Museum. No doubt, the electronic media universalizes the access and might allow cultural insertion to a part of Brazilian population. MAC USP has the most important collection of modern and contemporary Art in Latin America. Nowadays, it is the second museum of plastic arts most visited in the State of São Paulo. The opportunity of offering electronically this cultural patrimony of humanity to Brazil and abroad not only will enlarge the visibility of Museum, attracting a larger number of visitants, but also will range the museum among the main ones of the world, surely.
The objective of the development of a virtual project is to integrate Art to digital technology. This development resulted in MAC Virtual: a large challenge that Escola Politécnica ( Polytechnic School) transformed into an exceptional instrument to research and assist the society.
MAC Virtual Project it is not a simple way of making available the collection at Internet, it intends to motivate the perception of the Beauty through trhree-dimensional images, orientate the user in his visit and offer a learning of art with multi-didactic tools. To this, the Universidade de São Paulo called together its experts of many fields, in a multi and inter-disciplinary work. Escola Politécnica is prided to participate in this group of work and of offer to society one more cultural service.
